My first step on the ladder…

Right, so I have managed to get myself a new job, it took a while but I got there in the end. I've gone from working as a sales associate in TK MAXX to a Production Assistant for a project management and advertising company. Don't think this came to me over night, I had signed with some apprentice companies which then sent me out on countless interviews, which to be honest, didn't a appeal to me at all.

Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying the 'doss life' but as I sat the other day watching daytime tv, I really felt the need to be challenged. This is something that my new job will offer.

I think to myself, how could a 18 year old girl, with no degree get such an amazing job. As my starting date draws nearer, the more nervous I get. With the nerves comes a side order of excitement. This is the first step on my career ladder, I am going to take this with both hands and work my ass off.

I still love London even when…

The tube that takes you here to there, knowing that with your oyster you get a cheaper fare.

The constant feel that everyone’s in a rush, but when they bump into you, saying sorry is too much a fuss.

The smell of day old piss and freshly brewed tea and coffee, but we take the bad with the good just to make our mornings that little bit more easy.

The cocky motorists that weave in and out of traffic, knowing that 50% of the time it could end up tragic.

The useless pigeons that never behave, and not more to my liking are getting much too brave.

The black cabs that charge you extortionate amounts, yet we are still willing to ‘jump’ in them under any account.

There are many more irritating things I could say about London, but I could not imagine myself living anywhere else!

What are SEO and PPC?

SEO stands for search engine optimization. A search engine optimization is a strategy used to increase the amount of visitors to a website, this happens by gaining a high placement in the search results of a search engine. For example when you search on google you will get a light yellow box with the highest ranking websites. When using the internet we won’t look further then the first page, so where a site ranks is very important to the traffic directed towards the site.

This links to social media as search engines are constantly using the recommendations and feedback from users of social media sites such as twitter and Facebook to rank the pages in search engines result pages. Whenever a website is visited, nowadays we will always have the option to ‘share’ or ‘like’ the website which also allows websites to keep existing followers while also attracting new ones, and will also increase the sites traffic.

PCC stands for pay-per-click. PPC is an internet marketing formula used to price online ads. In PPC programs the advertisers will pay the internet publishers a set price of the PPC rate, this means that then the advertisement is clicked on the advertisers will earn a certain rate whether they made a sale or not. Social media has become a word wide trend; it presents the perfect opportunity for PPC.

Twitter Is Like . . .

Couldn’t have put it better myself.

Twitter analogy

I was out for coffee the other day with a non-tweeting friend. “So what’s Twitter actually like?” she asked.

I ummed and ahhed, and explained it all very badly, mumbling some fairly dry stuff about retweets and hashtags and follows. She didn’t look convinced. So I’ve been thinking about it ever since, and here’s what I’ve come up with.

Stumble Upon

So, have you ever been bored with your laptop in front of you thinking 'what should I do on the internet?!' The other night, I should say morning, around 2am I was sitting on my bed with my laptop, and I came across 'Stumble upon'. Stumble upon was made for people in that EXACT situation. You make an account with Stumble Upon, select random crap you're interested in, then hey presto! You're free to stumble upon random things that are based on your interests! With the click of a button you are free to stumble across anything! Not sure about you lot, but I thought it was a great concept so I though is share :).
